Rana Salam is a multilingual Art Director and designer whose practice spans Beirut, London, Paris, Dubai, and Miami. She holds a BA in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins (London) and an MA in Visual Communications and Art Direction from the Royal College of Art.
Her work centers on reshaping perceptions of the Arab world through contemporary design, presenting it in a fresh, engaging, and positive light. Known for her distinctive use of Middle Eastern popular culture, she combines its vibrant visual language with current design technologies to create culturally rooted yet globally resonant work.
Rana is the founder of Rana Salam Studio, specializing in brand creation and rebranding for local and international clients such as Harvey Nichols, the Victoria & Albert Museum, Liberty of London, Art Dubai, and Paul Smith. In addition to her studio practice, she launched The Beirut Bombshell, a concept shop featuring home products, prints, and curated objects celebrating visual culture from the Arab world. A career milestone includes co-authoring The Secret Life of Syrian Lingerie (2008), a widely recognized publication exploring underground cultural narratives in the Syrian lingerie industry through design.
Her practice draws inspiration from fashion, food, street culture, and everyday visual ephemera, which she translates into compelling visual identities, spatial concepts, and product designs. Through her work, she continues to bridge cultural storytelling and contemporary design practice.
